EV Charging Cost Calculator (Indonesia)
Estimate the cost and time to charge your full battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Indonesia based on your car model and local electricity rate.
Savings vs a petrol car
This charge adds about 130 km of range for Rp 44.506,37. Driving the same distance on petrol would cost:
| Engine size | Petrol cost | You save |
|---|---|---|
| ≤ 1000 cc | Rp 87.674,40 | Rp 43.168,03 |
| 1000–1500 cc | Rp 103.615,20 | Rp 59.108,83 |
| 1500–2000 cc | Rp 127.526,40 | Rp 83.020,03 |
| 2000–2500 cc | Rp 151.437,60 | Rp 106.931,23 |
| > 2500 cc | Rp 183.319,20 | Rp 138.812,83 |
Estimated from typical combined fuel use by engine size and Pertamax (RON92) at Rp 12.300,00/L. Charging at home saves the most; actual figures vary with driving and conditions.
Running cost
| Per month | Per year | |
|---|---|---|
| EV charging | Rp 343.413,33 | Rp 4.120.960,00 |
| Petrol | Rp 984.000,00 | Rp 11.808.000,00 |
| You save | Rp 640.586,67 | Rp 7.687.040,00 |
Based on a typical mid-size petrol car (1500 to 2000 cc) over your monthly driving at current rates. Counts energy and fuel running cost only; it excludes maintenance, insurance, and purchase price.

Frequently asked questions
What is a BEV, and how is it different from an EV, PHEV, and HEV?
- EV (electric vehicle) is an umbrella term for any vehicle driven by an electric motor. A BEV (battery electric vehicle) is a fully electric car powered entirely by its battery and charged from the electricity grid, with no petrol engine. This is the type this calculator is built for. A PHEV (plug-in hybrid) pairs a petrol engine with a battery you can charge from the grid. An HEV is an ordinary hybrid that can't be plugged in; its battery recharges itself while you drive. There are also FCEVs, which run on hydrogen fuel cells. This calculator is for cars you charge from the grid (BEVs, and PHEVs in electric mode), so ordinary hybrids like the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid or Nissan Kicks e-Power aren't included.
How much does it cost to charge an EV?
- It depends on your car's battery size and your electricity rate. For example, charging a BYD Atto 1 Dynamic from 20% to 80% costs about Rp 30.673,12 at a typical residential rate.
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
- Charging time depends on the charger's power and how much energy you need. A home charger is slower than public DC fast charging, so a full top-up can range from under an hour on a fast charger to several hours at home in Indonesia.
How is the charging cost calculated?
- We multiply the energy needed (your battery size times the difference between your target and current charge level) by your electricity rate per kWh. Charging time is that energy divided by the charger's power in kW.
